Washinkai Karate honoured in Javea Sports Gala

Washinkia Club honoured at Jávea Sports Centre

Club Deportivo Washinkai Karate of Javea was presented with a plaque during last week's Javea Sports Gala recognising them as the 2011 Most Distinguished Sports Team of the Year,

having won 36 medals and trophies in various competitions including winning 16 gold medals in the British Traditional Karate National Championships.

The plaque was presented by Javea mayor Jose Chulvi and Juan Luis Cardona, Javea Sports. Before the presentation Washinkai Karate were invited to perform a demonstration on the stage for the townspeople of Javea. The display was performed by some of the winners of the trophy: Geovanny Sanchez, Sarah Lakin, Lucas Muñiz, Aiden Marshall, Taylor Brown, Dylan Broadhead, Kyle Cochrane, Valerie Boyle, Adam Sweeney, Lawrence Phillips and Cassie Middlemiss.

Jávea Sports Centre GalaThey began with a series of kicks and punches in lines or KIHON, then prearranged attacks and defences, followed by Aiden's winning SEIENCHIN kata (series of hidden techniques passed down by ancient masters) and the Gold winning simultaneous SEPAI kata of the Washinkai team.
