Sarah Lakin 2nd Dan with students Amy Van Haga Holt and Jack MortonThe Rainbow Nursery and School of Javea now have a new Dojo for Washinkai Karate run by Sarah Lakin 2nd Dan. They are celebrating two students grading to 5th Kyu (white-yellow-white belt) the second level on the junior programme for children aged four years up to twelve.

Amy Van Haga Holt and Jack Morton were both awarded their new belts by Chief Instructor Sensei Ray Sweeney 4th Dan who assessed them and commented on the high standard they showed. They had to perform a set of techniques of punching, blocking, striking and kicking as well as showing good Zanshin (awareness) and Kime (focus).

The new group at Rainbow has 10 students who are all working towards their eventual Junior Black Belt, before moving on to the adult programme. The class at Rainbow Nursery and School is part of CD Washinkai in Javea, one of the largest clubs in the Valencian region.

The club meets on Wednesdays from 16.30 to 17.45.
