Every year in March, the BTKA holds its National Competition. All members of the BTKA are invited and encouraged to compete in this annual event, and every year nearly all of the BTKA's clubs are represented in the events. The BTKA also hold a number of junior competitions throughout the year.

Events

Kumite

Kumite for both children and adults. Kumite is conducted under WKF rules and technique must be properly controlled.

There are various categories depending on sex, age, size and weight of competitors

Team Kumite

Team Kumite consists of teams of odd numbers of competitors, either five or three man. Each team member fights an opposing team member. The team with the most victories wins the round. If there is a draw, the decision is based on the number of points scored in the fights. Teams are adult, and either all male or all female.

Kata

Categories are based on sex, age, size and grade.

Team Kata

This kata event involves a three person team performing the same kata together. Marks are assessed not only on the standard of technique, but also on the degree synchronisation.

This is a popular event. The categories will vary, and you should ask your instructor for details well before the competition.
