Wearing Overgis

E-mail Print PDF
Overgis are like a track suit, worn over the gi. These are invaluable in dojo training, gradings, competitions and gasshuku. It is important, when there are breaks in a training session, to keep warm, otherwise the muscles and joints will cool down and start to stiffen up. An overgi will help to conserve heat.

The overgi should be as plain as possible, preferably navy blue, black or maroon, and certainly not loudly multicoloured. The Association name and the karate‑ka's name may be embroidered on the overgi. Only BTKA‑permitted karate‑related badges may be worn.
